Charming Cherry

Sunday January 17th, 2010, my Mom, Trevor and I took a nostalgic little trip to yesterday. Cherry was a delightful little community that looked like it was scooped out of some 19th century rural landscape by a giant prospector's shovel and tucked away in this picturesque little Yavapai County canyon. Driving in we came around the bend and this lush, green valley suddenly materialized in front of us. All in all, the trip to Cherry was a little jewel!
The breathtaking panorama of the Verde Valley. The country around Perkinsville, Jerome, and Sycamore Canyon. Out front are the red buttes of Oak Creek Canyon. Winding its way across this vast valley, the Verde River meanders southward toward its rendezvous with the Salt River. Looming majestically in the background are the San Francisco Peaks, the loftiest in all Arizona.

My little guy. He is such a joy to take on road trips.

Can you see the road that we are driving on? I guess that is why they call this a back roads tour.
